Dr. Colleen O'Neil is a seasoned education strategist, advisor, and servant leader with an exciting career spanning nearly 30 years in various educational roles. Her expertise includes serving as an educator, district and state education leader, chief learning officer, chief human resource officer, instructional designer, and professor. Since 2001, CK ID Consulting, under her guidance, has been assisting a diverse clientele, ranging from cryptocurrency companies to school districts, state education agencies, state government agencies, and even the Department of Homeland Security.

 

Colleen's extensive experience extends to designing more than 40 human capital career pathways and over 200 courses and learning pathways, catering to both in-person and online learning platforms.

 

For over a decade, Colleen proudly led the nationally recognized division of educator talent at the Colorado Department of Education. This division encompasses critical areas such as educator recruitment, preparation and development, educator licensing and enforcement, educator effectiveness, and early childhood workforce development. As a passionate advocate for education and educators, Colleen frequently engages in discussions about human capital modeling, employee well-being, and the creation of thriving work and learning environments.

 

Colleen started her career as a middle and high school English teacher in Guernsey, Wyoming, and Windsor, Colorado. Her versatility in both public and corporate education led her to serve as graduate faculty for the University of Virginia in the School of Education and Development, as well as in the role of Chief Learning Officer for an eLearning company. Notably, she played a vital role in strengthening educational and performance systems for entities like NASA and the Department of Defense during her tenure at the eLearning company.

 

Before joining the Colorado Department of Education, Colleen served as the Director of Curriculum, Career, and Technical Education for the South Dakota Department of Education. In this capacity, she oversaw three offices dedicated to fostering robust, connected, and relevant learning experiences for all students, preparing them to thrive beyond high school. Colleen's journey in human capital development began in the Greeley-Evans School District in Greeley, Colorado, where she held positions as the Chief Human Resource Officer and Director of Strategic Planning.

 

Colleen boasts a strong educational background, holding a Bachelor of Arts from Colorado State University at Pueblo (formerly University of Southern Colorado), a Master's degree from the University of Northern Colorado, an Educational Specialist degree from the University of Colorado at Denver, and a Doctoral degree from Bethel University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. As a passionate K-12 public educator, she maintains active teacher, principal, and superintendent licenses in the state of Colorado.
